Stop Line Three! — Not One More Pipeline
What is Line Three?
Line 3 is a proposal for a pipeline expansion created by Enbridge, a Canadian pipeline company responsible for the largest inland oil spill in US history. Their goal is to pump nearly a million barrels a day from the toxic tar sands of Canada to the shores of Lake Superior, crossing 22 rivers, boreal forests, untouched wetlands, and sacred territories of the Anishinaabe people, to get there.
Why do we need to stop Line Three?
The Environmental Impact of Line 3 is devastating. It’s equivalent to 50 new coal fired power plants and will sow as much devastation as 38 million new cars. The toxic Line 3 pipeline poses a direct threat to frontline indigenous communities and millions of people who depend on the rivers and lakes for clean drinking water. Any spill near the Great Lakes, which contain 84 percent of North America’s available freshwater, is an existential threat to our water supply. Line 3 will cause more death, more famine, more drought, more extreme weather and more suffering for billions of people around the world.
