Extinction Rebellion Los Angeles stands in solidarity with Black people, and all oppressed people of color, against police brutality and white supremacy.
The executions of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Atatiana Jefferson, and Tony McDade are just the most recent and visible examples of the white supremacist police state Black people have lived under in the United States for hundreds of years.
It is morally incumbent on all of us to act now, rise up, and rebel against any system as brutal and unjust as this one.
XRLA holds as one of its most sacred and fundamental principles that the creation of a livable, just planet for all means that the rights and wellbeing of Black people, Indigenous people, people of color, and poor communities must be centered in our culture. Reparations must be made and white supremacy overthrown and replaced with a regenerative culture that prioritizes care, well-being, and the honoring of all voices, races, and bodies.
There is no environmental justice without social justice.
